Corsair Harpoon Gaming Mouse Review
Corsair Harpoon Gaming Mouse Review
Corsair has recently released their new gaming mouse called Corsair HARPOON RGB-Gaming-Mouse together with the new CORSAIR K55 RGB-Gaming-Keyboard. The mouse has already found its way to our lab.The Corsair HARPOON RGB mouse features impressive 6000 DPI optical gaming sensor with advanced tracking for precise control. It is not one of those super expansive high-end gaming mice, but it doesn’t mean that it’s bad. In fact after 4 hours of gameplay it is still comfortable, pretty lightweight and so easy to move and lift. Rubberized side grips provide enough contact, so your hand does not tend to slide away of the mouse even during agressive gameplay. But let’s have a closer look.
Corsair Harpoon is equipped with six fully programmable buttons (5 + wheel button) and on-board memory, so you can simply remap your keys or setup your own marcos for specifis game. For RGB and other customizations we recommend to use the Corsair CUE software. Although, the mouse comes pre-adjusted out of the box, you may wish to fine tune things up to make more personal.
Top button allows you On-the-fly DPI switching to match your requirements instantly. The Omron switches are rated for 20 million clicks, providing fast response and reliability with long lifespan. The top surface of the Corsair Harpoon is in mate finish and it’s comfortably warm. You can also forget about fingerprints at all. Small Corsair logo present in front left corner sum the overall design pretty good. The power cable was moved even more to the left as we see by Scimitar RGB Optical MOBA/MMO Gaming Mouse which is actually a good idea.
Mouse wheel is rubberized and pretty quite during scrolling. Mouse clicks although, are a bit louder, but not disturbing. Overall size of this mouse is bit smaller but nevertheless, users with bigger hand will surely find it not too small, as it was in our case. The left side buttons are in proper place, and we had no issues with misclicks at all during any gamestyle.
Molded rubber side grips on both sides enable you to hold the mouse with a confident, firm grip. Don’t slip when lifting the mouse or making long or quick swipes. The mouse cord is about 1,8m long protected with Braided Fiber sleeve.
The bottom features four removable sliders and we can see the big cut out around mouse wheel. The HARPOON RGB uses PMW3320 gaming grade optical sensor from PixArt, with adjustable DPI rating up to 6000 DPI. This sensor delivers instantaneous response across the entire resolution range, enabling advanced tracking accuracy, consistent responsiveness at any speed and high-speed motion detection ideal for FPS gaming. A high-sensitivity allows for small movements of the mouse to correspond to larger movements on screen, whereas a low sensitivity allows for larger movements.
Supricingly good performing gaming mouse would be the proper description. We may point out that users with palm grip and big hands will find their fingers out of the mouse range in front, but you’ll get use to it very quickly. So just give it a day or two. Users with fingertip and claw grip or smaller hands shouldn’t notice any issues at all. Thanks to all the features and good build quality, this mouse will find its place on the market and among many gamers. From our side, nothing much to complain, even the price of €29.99 is ok. We are happy to give this mouse our Golden Recommendation.
