Nerdytec Couchmaster Cycon Review
It is generally known that living rooms are owned by console gamers. As PC gamers are used to keyboard and mouse, most of a time, they were bound to their desks. With the idea of using streaming machines, many PC gamers have the opportunity to move into the living room, enjoying the comfort of couch as well. With Nerdytec Couchmaster Cycon, you are able to simply connect peripherals over USB cable and so play any game from your couch. You don’t need any additional power supply, as the USB3.0 delivers enough power over 5m USB3.0 cord included in this set.
Nerdytec has designed their Couchmaster Cycon the way, that it’s not resting on your lap as it is by Corsair Lapdog, Roccat Sova or Razzer Turret. The support case is sitting on two cushions which are not connected with the platform, and so can be freely moved to any position. Although, max. distance between cushions should not exceed 75cm. The soft-foam cushions are covered by artificial leather or microfaser.
There are even more color options available, should you prefer to have it in white, grey or black with red stripe for some extra money. Our sample came with black artificial leather. Which is the standard option available for €159,-
The package also includes extra pocket, which can be placed wherever you want using tape. One of the cushions has already one pocket integrated on the left side, for hiding a drink or any other small stuff.
The plastic case platform came in a big cardboard box.
All USB cables can be hidden inside. To do so, you have to undo some screws. You can open separately left or right side of the bottom.
Keyboard and mouse is plugged in, and one short USB cable goes out of the case on either left or right side, depends on user choice. Then the long USB3.0 extension cord connects the platform with the PC. You have 5 meters which is more than enough in most cases. The top surface is made of plastic even it has kind of leather texture. Only corners are covered in leather.
Conclusion:
Overall the Couchmaster Cycon is quite comfortable. Although it takes a lot of space as well. There are some additional Gadgets available online. Should you need some accessories like additional power adapter or mouse pad, Nerdytec is offering some stuff for you as well. Cushions are soft and offer very good comfort for long gaming. The build quality of plastic case could be better, but it is also not that bad. The package includes support case, 2x cushions, additional pocket, USB 3.0-hub, active USB 3.0 extension cable (5m), user manual, Velcro straps and smallscrew driver. So far everything works fine and serves its purpose. One thing also worth to mention is that Couchmaster Cycon can be used by left and right handed users, which is good advantage in comparison with Lapdog. Functionality and simplicity would be the main describing words here. The preis €159 could be little bit lower, but it is worth of buying if you like to game on your couch.
