Project “The Naked NUC” by Tim Warning
The project “Naked NUC” was designed to show the inside of the NUC by removing the original chassis and replacing it with a full transparent one. Next to this I wanted to implement a design I had in my head for a long while now. We all know the watercooling routing mid-plates. I wanted to create a chassis that was transparent, routed all watercooling (also from panel to panel) and incorporate a reservoir as well.
The only way to achieve this is by gluing the chassis together. The reservoir should also incorporate the Intel logo inside the coolant. To house the NUC itself I created a “floating” radiator setup that is visually held up only by the in- and outlet tube for the 120mm radiator. To create a visually same left and right side I incorporated two very tiny watercooling pumps. These 2 together came to a custom created waterblock especially for the NUC and for this project with 2 inlet channels and 1 outlet channel. This way I incorporated all my ideas and wishes while still keeping the footprint small (20cm*20cm*20cm).
